Notice of Location and Hours of Polling Place

At the election to be held on November 5, 2024, in the Town of Sherry of Wood County, Wisconsin, the following polling place location will be used for the wards indicated:

  Notice of Meeting of the Local Board of Canvassers

At the close of voting on Election Day, pursuant to the provisions of Wis. Stat. § 19.84, the Election Inspectors at each polling place will convene as the Local Canvassing Board for the purpose of conducting the local canvass pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 7.51.  This meeting will be open to the public pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§ 19.81-89.

  Notice of Meeting of the Local and Municipal Board of Canvassers (MBOC)

At the close of voting on Election Day, pursuant to the provisions of Wis. Stat. § 19.84, the Election Inspectors will convene as a joint meeting of the Local Board of Canvassers and the MBOC for the purpose of conducting the local and municipal canvasses pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§7.51 and 7.53(1). This meeting will be open to the public pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§ 19.81-89.

 

Notice of Meeting of MBOC to Process Rehabilitated Provisional Ballots

If provisional ballots have been issued and are subsequently cured by the voter before 4:00 p.m. on the Friday after the election, the MBOC must meet no later than the following Monday at 9:00 a.m. to process the cured provisional ballots.  This is a public meeting and requires applicable notice.

Purpose: To attend the Blenker-Sherry Sanitary District community meeting at 7:00 p.m. hosted by the Blenker-Sherry Sanitary District to discuss the future of the Sanitary District.

  • A quorum of the town board may be present.
  • No decisions related to Town Board business will be conducted.
  • Other attendees include community members from Towns of Sherry and Milladore.

NOTICE OF REFERENDUM

November 5, 2024

 Referendum Election Details

At an election to be held in the Town of Sherry on November 5, 2024, the following proposed ordinance of the Town Board will be submitted to a vote of the people:        

The Town Board of the Town of Sherry, Wood County, Wisconsin, does hereby ordain as follows:

That, pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 60.30(1e)(a), the office of the town clerk shall be filled by appointment of a majority of the members-elect of the town board.

The term of office for the appointed position(s) shall be set by the town board, but may not exceed 3 years per § 60.30(1e)(c). The town board may re-appoint the officer(s) for additional terms. However, removal by the town board during a given term of office may only be for “cause” as defined under § 17.001 and required by § 60.30(1e)(f).

This ordinance is subject to approval by the town electors in a referendum, which is hereby called by the Town Board to be held on NOVEMBER 5, 2024, at the next general election.

The salary of the appointed position(s) shall be set by the town board and may not be reduced during the term of office.

This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its town board passage, notice after passage per § 60.80 and also its referendum approval by the town electors as required by § 60.30(1e)(b).

Adopted this 14th day of August, 2024.

The question will appear on the ballot as follows:

Shall the person holding the office of Town Clerk in the Town of Sherry be appointed by the town board?           

Explanation

A vote “Yes”, indicates support for an appointment of the Town Clerk.

A vote “No”, indicates NO support for an appointment of the Town Clerk. The position will remain an elected position.
